55" LCD Directory Board installation into busy city office location

Metromatics have recently installed a MetroSpec 55” sunlight readable 1500nit LCD monitor with an external PC into the business foyer of a busy 9 story office building located in the central business district of Brisbane City.

The MetroSpec Display was installed flush within the business foyer front wall using the mounting frame surround to directly fix to the timber joinery behind the front wall.

The updates to the display will be done by remote access to the windows PC in the directory board and will use a digital content manager software to schedule new imaging to the screen.  For most part, it will simply be a directory advising potential clients, where the various organisations offices are located.  However there will periodic image updates and paid advertising as well.

Metromatics provided the complete solution - hardware, software installation and software training on the easy to operate content manager.   It is due to be operational within the week

What is DOOH?

DOOH Stands for Digital Out of Home.
It refers to digital media in relation to advertising based networks excluding television and radio advertising but including digital signage.
DOOH LCD Digital Signage

Digital Out of Home Advertising networks can be found to use strategically placed, networked digital signage displays to reach consumers with highly targeted messages in venues that include airports, railway and bus terminals; office-building lobbies and elevators; and shopping centres.
DOOH advertising networks often provide advertisers with additional engagement opportunities that include interactive touch screens and mobile integration using NFC, BLE, and QR Codes and advertisers can customise their messages to a specific location, time of day, or special event.
According to Screen Media Daily – “The Australian digital out-of-home (DOOH) advertising market has seen strong growth across a wide range of venue categories. Australia’s digital out-of-home networks are concentrated around cities and transportation hubs where they are most likely to intercept on-the-go consumers.  As a result, there are no true national scale networks. However, as mass mediums go, many of Australia’s DOOH networks have greater reach than comparable mediums, including television.”
Apparently, the growth in the DOOH market in Australia is around 22%  as at 2015 and the USA remains the largest by revenue but only ranks fourth in consumer DOOH exposure behind Australia, UK and Canada as there are more people who are closer to these cities where the a majority of DOOH Displays are placed.
We work with the DOOH Networks to design & manufacture a suitable Interactive Outdoor LCD Display Signage that will engage, inform, and entertain consumers.

E-Paper Bus Stop Totem Solution

In the immediate Brisbane City to Fortitude Valley area, there must be at least 50 public bus stop starting point routes, add to that a bus stop every 500 Metres -  so imagine the number of bus stops with in this vicinity alone!!  Then comes the maintenance of bus stops – the updating of the timetable information, printing it out and going around and putting the correct information at the right location.

Wouldn’t it be great if this all could be done with a push of a button?  You would be able to provide real time passenger information to the customer advising “Sorry Bus Route Service 158 is running 5 minutes behind schedule due to a burst water main at Indooroopilly”.  Also you could update timetables, bus arrivals, bus routes, network maps and provide public information notices.

Well you now can – introducing the MetroSpec E-Paper Bus Stop Totems by Metromatics the ideal solution in providing your commuters with advanced real time passenger information.

Utilising the latest E-Paper Technology, the MetroSpec E-Paper Bus Totem Display stands out when in dim light and brightens when in direct sunlight and it has an onboard sensor which recognises day and night and uses LED Edge lighting for night time viewing.  Once the information is set on the screen it will hold the image indefinitely without drawing electricity or any battery power which makes it a green friendly solution.

Information is monitored centrally and updates seamlessly happen automatically to the selected MetroSpec Bus Stop Totems using WIFI or 3G/4G Connectivity.  There is the option of installing solar cells to the top of the Totem unit so mains power would not be required. The MetroSpec E-Paper Bus Stop Totem can be single or double sided and is available in black and white or in colour and is available in a range of configurations and sizes.

The benefits for the public transport operators in using this sort of technology includes

·         Increasing Customer Satisfaction with the ability to provide reliable important information to them that it is in an easy to read, clear, concise format and thereby  providing less reliance on mobile app devices or other websites as the information being provided would be coming from you.

·         The other obvious huge benefit would be the lowering the costs in the maintenance of the bus stop sites and reducing the number of "unreliable service complaints" in Customer Relations Department.

Metromatics have been providing advanced digital signage passenger information solutions to the public transport industry for over 10 years now under our MetroSpec Brand Name.  Let us assist you.
